Granada Hills Tournament
On Saturday November 19th, 3 MVHS robotics teams travelled to Granada Hills to compete in their first Robotics Tournament of the year. There were 39 teams from schools all over Southern California. This year the goal is to get as many of your color barrels and balls into the goals of differing heights all around the 12′ x 12′ field.
Team 569 had a rough morning trying to overcome many technical difficulties, but once they got their robot on the field it was dominant. During the playoffs they were part of the #1 seeded alliance
and went undefeated through the playoffs to WIN the FIRST tournament of the year. They also took 2nd place in the Robot Skills challenge. Their performance was inspirational especially after watching them overcome so much adversity in the morning qualifying rounds. With this win Team 569 has qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championships in April at the Anaheim Convention Center!!
Team 569B had an extremely effective robot and were able to score very quickly easily. They fought hard all day and made it to the playoffs, but were knocked out in the semifinals.
Team 569C had a very impressive robot but struggled with various difficulties throughout the day. Unfortunately they did not make the playoffs, but can take away many positives from the experience.
For our first tournament of the year and with many new faces, this tournament was most certainly a success.
